The Pre-colonial history of Eko (from which the modern day Lagos evolved) has traced the origin of it early dwellers to Odua in Ile-Ife like the other yoruba nations. And before the coming of the whitemen the people of Eko where engage in trading, hunting, farming and fishing as their economic activity.
And just like the other yorubas Eko was being ruled by an OBA and had a culture that shows deep respect and regards for elders, the men greet by lying flat on the ground while the women knee down as it is with the yorubas.
Eko was also known for it beautiful cultural heritage and festival such as the great EYO (white masquerade) festival, which is still celebrated till date.
The city of Lagos lies in south-western Nigeria, on the narrow coastal flood plain of Bight of Benin, lying approximately on
longitude 20 42'E and 30 22'E East respectively and between latitude 600 22'N.
It shares bounderies with ogun state in the
North and East and the Republic of Benin in the west, encompassing an area of 3,577 square kilometers.
Lagos State was created on May 27, 1967 but prior to the creation of The Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) Lagos played
a dual role a the Capital of Nigeria and a state as a result of which it experienced a very rapid growth.
This continuous growth has earn Lagos the most populated Nigeria City in Nigeria and one of the world's five largest cities as at 2005.
Lagos is a land of aquatic splendour beautified by nature with creeks, lagoons and rivers, in addition to it tropical swamp forest vegetation.
Lagos is not just Nigeria's economic hub but of the entire west africa. Very large percentage of the nation's wealth
and economic activity are concentrated here. It an understatement to say Lagos is a fertile ground for investment,
with one of the largest market in Africa, Lagos constantly presents very large investment oppotunities everyday.
